Basic actions

If you’re new to Shortcuts, these actions are the least complex and should be self-explanatory based on the title or description.

Some of these are deceivingly staightforward too – as just one piece of the puzzle, the utility may not be clear, but Related Actions can help show how to use each in context.

These actions aren’t “just for beginners” either – some simple actions are the most-used.

Add to Reading List
Adds URLs passed into the action to your reading list.

Set AssistiveTouch
AssistiveTouch allows you to use your iPhone if you have difficulty touching the screen or if you require an adaptive accessory.

Set Sound Recognition
Sound Recognition will continuously listen for certain sounds, and using on-device machine learning, attempt to notify you when sounds may be recognized. Sound Recognition can also be enabled under Accessibility in the Settings app.

Configure Sound Recognition to attempt to notify you for certain sounds. Sounds can also be configured under Accessibility in the Settings app.
